Ustinov College

Durham University, to podobno 3 w kraju uniwersytet. W wakacje nie ma w nim zbyt wielu studentów, dlatego mieszkam w akademiku dla doktorantów - Ustinov College. Mam swój własny pokoik z umywalką (i osobnymi kranami dla ciepłej i zimnej wody <sick>) i dostępem do Internetu. Ok. 6 osób dzieli wspólnie 2 łazienki i kuchnię. Niestety kuchnia, która miała być miejscem wspólnych spotkań i rozmów, okazała się zapyziałym pomieszczeniem, do którego idzie się tylko wtedy, gdy już nie można wytrzymać z głodu:/

Durham University is said to be 3rd best university in England. During summer there aren't many students there, that's why there was free space for me in the student's dormitory - Ustinov College. I have my own room with washbasin (hot and cold water are separately) and with Internet access. Kitchen and bathroom is shared by 6 people. Unfortunately kitchen, which I hoped to be the place to meet other people, is very dirty. I go there only when I am really hungry. 

W osobnym budynku jest także bar i kafejka, gdzie serwują śniadania. Można tam także pooglądać wieczorem filmy, spotkać się ze znajomymi itp. Tam też stacjonuje portier Jonathan - jak narazie mój najlepszy "przyjaciel", który wszystko potrafi załatwić. Np. przełącznik do gniazdka dla europejskich wtyczek (polecam zabrać jakąś ze sobą, bo bez prądu to jednak ciężko).

There is also another building with bar and cafe, where you can eat breakfast. In the evenings 
it is possible to watch movies and meet friends there. My first best friend here is Jonathan - the porter. He can arrange everything, e.g. electrical adaptor (very useful thing - I recommend to take it from home, because it is difficult to live without electricity).  

W niedzielę wieczorem bar zapełnił się kibicami i wszyscy wspólnie oglądaliśmy finał Euro2012. Tam też poznałam Emilio, który mimo że jest Włochem, uważa się za obywatela świata. Wszystkim w koło opowiada, że chce stworzyć świat bez granic, gdzie wszyscy ludzie będą sobie równi... 

Sunday evening bar was filled up with football funs and we were watching Euro2012 finals. I met Emilio there -Italian guy who is 'citizen of the world' and wants to create world without borders.  

W Ustinov College jestem jedyną Polką. Podobno mieszkają tutaj też inni praktykanci, ale nie miałam okazji ich jeszcze poznać. Niestety w Durham nie działa żaden komitet IAESTE, dlatego wszystkim zajmują się opiekunowie praktyk. Czas wolny spędzamy już według własnego uznania. 

I am the only Polish student in Ustinov College. There are more trainees here, but I didn't meet them yet. Unfortunately, there is no LC in Durham. Our supervisors take care of everything. In free time we organize everything by ourselves.
